Enterprise Dashboards Back in the Day - An oldie from Intel’s IT Team circa 2001

Here's a shot of an early dashboard from the Intel Information Technology Indicators Team. The pdf that it came from indicates that this shot is similiar to the original from March of 2001. Intel keeps the pdf alive at http://www.intel.com/it/business-management/it-dashboard.pdf  The document is a must-read - it gives a grounding of balanced scorecard principles and is well written.

As you can see, the graphics are primitive and lack the polish of today's dashboard designs, but the document is well worth the study.

So what or who is The Dashboard Spy? As his about page states, The Dashboard Spy is just a guy interested in the design of enterprise dashboards. He could not find any executive dashboard design source books (or even screenshots of real business dashboards) and so set about creating his own. Finally convinced to post his extensive collection of dashboard screenshots online, he was amazed to find how popular it has become. If you have a nice screenshot of a digital dashboard, balanced scorecard, or any business intelligence graphic to share, please send an email to info _at_ dashboardspy.com.
