Distributorship Financial Dashboard Screenshots - a bicycle distributor and its business intelligence
Thanks to the dashboarders over at mrc-productivity.com, we have this bike shop's enterprise dashboard. There is a demo available that you should try to get a feel for the flow through the pages, but here are some screenshots I grabbed in the meantime.
This next dashboard screenshot shows sales by year with units shipped, revenue and profit figures in a table. Below that is a graph of revenue by year which one can drill down on.
A note about the top level navigation. Look at the red role-sensitive links for employees and dealers only. A best practice would be to not show links to things you are not entitled to. Use role-based security/access to paint the screen with only those elements pertinent to your role. That is, instead of a red employees only link, there would be nothing if you were not an employee. If you were an employee, you would see a white link that said employees. Statement withdrawn - see comments for a good explanation of this.
Also, the sub-navigation in this executive tab is a bit unclear. There are 2 links - business intelligence and executive dashboard. Which are we seeing right now on this screen? There is no on-state.

Drilling down on a bar in the graph above brings us this screen which show product categories.

To show you the look for table-based pages, we have this screenshot:

Homework: If you are on a dashboarding project involving retail operations, you know how subtle the subject can be. If you need a grounding in this area, start with these books on retail management and store operations.
So what or who is The Dashboard Spy? As his about page states, The Dashboard Spy is just a guy interested in the design of enterprise dashboards. He could not find any executive dashboard design source books (or even screenshots of real business dashboards) and so set about creating his own. Finally convinced to post his extensive collection of dashboard screenshots online, he was amazed to find how popular it has become. If you have a nice screenshot of a digital dashboard, balanced scorecard, or any business intelligence graphic to share, please send an email to info _at_ dashboardspy.com.
