Business Intelligence Dashboard Search Terms

Dashboard Spy readers come from all walks of corporate life. The visitor stats for this page shows me the variation of our collective interest in the vast world that is business intelligence. Let me spend a few minutes showing you the amazing variety of search terms that bring traffic to the Dashboard Spy collection of resources.

First, let me explain that this page is a mistake. For whatever reason, the CMS that generates these pages burped one day and out came this page with a very strange URL. I didn’t catch it for a while and so it got indexed by search engines and people found their way here. Now, of course, I can use various tricks to redirect the traffic, but I felt it instructive to leave it up and study the search terms appearing in my log.

Here’s a random look at some of the BI-related keywords bringing people here:

Dashboard - of course this is my flagship keyword. It’s wonderful that searching on the phrase “dashboard” brings one to a collective effort of like-minded people.

Excel Dashboard - of the various technologies used for dashboarding, Excel dashboards are quite commonly searched for.

Hospital Dashboards - I was surprised to see the volume of traffic for business intelligence related to hospital management. Welcome to you health care IT people and managers!

Oracle Business Intelligence - another commonly appearing vendor related term. I guess packaged dashboard software is just growing incredibly.

Reporting Dashboard Solution Microsoft - With the latest Office release, plenty of queries are showing up for sharepoint and other such reporting and dashboard solutions powered by Microsoft.

Project Health Scorecard - Many of our dashboard examples revolve around project health and status indication.

Dashboard Software Opensource - a growing trend.

Graphic Gif Scorecard Images Icon - dashboards are visual tools and everyone is looking for slick icons for metrics and KPIs.

Company Operational Metrics - It’s all about the search for the right KPIs and metrics for your company, isn’t it?
