Medical Practice Health KPI Enterprise Dashboard

A Dashboard for Doctor’s Practice. Today’s executive dashboard topic: Medical Practice Management. Reporting trends in enterprise dashboard and business intelligence on the Dashboard Spy blog has primarily been via display and explanation of screenshots of various enterprise dashboard examples. I thought I’d branch out and embrace video as an additional reporting channel. Here is an enterprise dashboard video clip I found online that briefly looks at an enterprise dashboard used by medical doctors to monitor and optimize the performance of their practices. Executive dashboards can be used by doctors to manage their practices in their own office (or a medical group), or dashboards can be used at the hospital management level (ie. hospital dashboard).

In this sequence, one of the key performance indicators (KPI) is explained. DSO or Days Sales Outstanding is a measure of the age of patient receivables. The narrator explains that a good goal is for accounts receivable to be less than 30 days in payment. In the scenario shown, DSO is 66 days. The executive dashboard automatically posts a note that tells the user that if the DSO goal is met, the practice income would increase by $66,000.
